Published in 1859, the Hymnologium was the very first hymnal dedicating itself to having an absolutely ecumenical tenor. It contained songs and hymns from catholic, protestant, anglican and orthodox sources. At the same time, it became the first hymnal to be used by the German Catholic Apostolic congregations. These choir booklets refer to tunes and texts from the Hymnologium and offer simple choir settings for them. The settings either have been taken from older publications or have been newly created by Andreas Ostheimer. Many of the pieces contained are unknown today and thus can extend the choirs' repertoire for the Christian year. Contents of booklet Advent:
